Policy Extensions

When obtaining a policy from ANY insurer it is wise to check what their policy is on extensions. In some cases the insurer only allows 1 (one) extension. Some allow extension no more than for a period equal to the original policy length purchased. Some offer extension up to a 12 month period on a 12 month policy.

For those with 12 month policy wishing an extension, you may find it is basically a new application (mostly for policies for Aussies already overseas.

Pre–existing implications on extensions - When you extend a policy, any coverage for pre-existing becomes null and void from the extension start date onwards. This is true across the range of our insurers.

NB: You may ONLY extend a policy that has not expired . Please be aware of International date lines as your expiry date may have already passed in Australia. Best arrange an extension 4-5 days ahead of expiry.
